Wharf Rat > Comes a Time

Only time they ever played that combination. Talk about being in a sentimental mood! Killer Comes a Time, BTW.

RULES: No database searches of any kind (that would be too easy). That means you too, Tell.

We have a winner! Sorry for not confirming your win sooner (not that you needed it confirmed, since you knew)--I've been offline for a bit. Your prize will be an extra large bottle of love, to fill any empty cups you may have. Look for it when you least expect it, if that's possible.

Someone please remind me: at which show(s) did Jerry sing "... some other person's crime" instead of the usual "f-word"? I'm pretty sure it is one of the official releases, maybe an early Dick's Pick.

I meant to put in a word for Wharf Rat the other day when there was a thread about great Hunter lyrics. I really like the way phrases are left unfinished, and how repetition and re-phrasing are used though the whole song to convey the distressed, disjointed conversation:

Pearly's been true
true to me, true to my dying day he said
I said to him:
I'm sure she's been
I said to him:
I'm sure she's been true to you

I just found out there's a drawing that Jerry did of August West, supposed to be the only time he drew anything related to a Grateful Dead song:

Really perceptive comment on those WR lyrics. It helps to make it so vivid ... there's such an ear for dialogue there, almost like playwriting.

Btw that thread with the pic seems to have been removed.

Thanks AR. I don't know why the link doesn't work. An alternative is to Google "August West drawing" and then when you click the "images" option it's the first picture to appear.
